Experience
Years of experience: 14. Registered at ProZ.com: Aug 2014.
I am a linguaphile, native speaker of American English, fluent and fully literate in Spanish. I keep my Spanish skills fresh through reading Spanish contemporary news and literature, written and spoken communication with Spanish-speaking friends, and have worked as a bilingual volunteer with World Relief. I hold BA degrees in Spanish and International Relations from Gonzaga University and have studied Spanish at the Center for Modern Languages at the University of Granada, Spain. In 2012, I obtained my most recent certification as a Spanish<>English translator from the Global Translation Institute in Portland, OR, USA. Subsequently I worked as a project manager at Glyph Language Services and as Business Development Specialist at River Linguistics, and translated for Hispanic Food Network.
My expertise in the translation subjects of wine, food and travel stem from working in the Washington State wine industry over a span of 9 years, my love of cooking and international cuisine, and extensive travel experience throughout Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. I also have 3 years of experience working in the property/casualty insurance sector, and currently freelance as a marketing consultant. I am enthusiastic and passionate about translation work, and have an eye for detail.
