I started working as a part-time medical translator from French and German to English almost 25 years ago. My client base spans university hospitals, large and small medical and veterinary commercial entities, private individuals as well as not-for-profit organisations.
I am a retired consultant medical practitioner, with many years' experience as an anaesthetist and general practitioner in the UK and France.
My husband (also an anaesthetist) and I moved with our two children to rural south-west France almost thirty years ago and both were successful in re-registering with the Ordre des Medecins.
Before devoting all my working time to translation and to managing a small holiday property business, I worked for a couple of years as the local general practitioner in a village neighbouring ours.
Since I first qualified in general medicine and then in anaesthesia in the early 1970s, I experienced a broad variety of healthcare systems, completing locum placements in Sweden, Dubai, Holland, Gibraltar and Canada. |
