I graduated from the Australian National University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Specialist) majoring in Thai language and Southeast Asian history. This included a year studying Thai language and culture at Chiang Mai University. I also have a Master of Human Rights Law and Policy from the University of NSW (2014).

I have lived and worked extensively in Thailand and divide my time evenly between Thailand and Australia.

Along with standard Thai, I am also fluent in the northern Thai dialect ("kam muang" or "Lanna").
