I am a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts upper second-class honours degree in Hispanic Studies. Throughout my four years at university I did regular translation practice (Spanish into English and English into Spanish). I spent the third year of my degree studying in Mexico and Brazil to improve my language skills.
I have also gained an MA in Latin American Area Studies. During this course I spent my time studying cultural politics, environment and development and Indian and peasant politics, as well as spending a short period in Mexico.
I have also worked in the pharmaceutical industry and undertook regular translation work - mainly Spanish into English - as part of my role. Due to the nature of the work, an extrememely high level of accuracy was required when undertaking translations.
I have been working part-time as a translator and Spanish tutor since October 2014 and am taking the CiOL Diploma in Translation in February 2017 with a view to working in the industry full-time.
