Bio

I am a serious translator who always enjoys new experiences and challenges.

I started working as a translator in 2013 and my experience has been growing since. I have a passion for IT that helped me learn how to do many things. Thanks to my digital skills, I’ve been able to solve many technical challenges related to adapting and translating RTL languages in today’s digital world. I have tried many CAT and subtitling tools, and I perform OCR and DTP on a daily basis. I have done voiceovers using high end equipment and software from home. I have used tools such Okapi, AntConc and various other python tools. I know how to use graphic design tools like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I even designed and launched my own website on www.translatoneers.com.

My humanitarian and volunteering experience as a translator started when I learned about TWB in 2017. I started volunteering that year with the Rapid Response Team that translated urgent content on a daily basis during the refugee crisis. I decided to join because I felt I had a responsibility towards the refugees that faced various perils on their way to the unknown. I later started to volunteer in doing voiceovers, website localization, and translator screening.

I have been working as the Levantine Arabic Language Lead with TWB since late November 2018. My work here involves daily remote work using Slack, Asana, Trello etc. I’ve working on finding solutions for Levantine Arabic while also tackling quality and volunteer community engagement on a daily basis.

I am also a university lecturer at Aleppo University, where I teach Academic Writing courses to freshmen and sophomores. As an academic educator, I have to always keep an eye on details while handling the large volume of written material usually found in any writing course. I am also responsible for preparing exam questions and marking papers.

I am currently pursuing my PhD studies in the fields of Criticism and Drama. I had obtained my BA in English Language and Literature in 2014 and obtained my MA in Literary Studies in 2018. My studies have always dealt with language matters and their peculiar aspects, including the hard-to-pin issue of quality.

I believe that my experience, skill, and enthusiasm are the key things you are looking for.
