Originally from Curitiba in the south of Brazil, I have been involved personally with both Brazilian Portuguese and American English since I was born, and professionally since 1998, doing translation work, teaching, proofreading documents in both Portuguese and English and have spent a few years working as a Pedagogical Coordinator in two language courses, as well as some mainly administrative functions.
I am the son of a mixed-nationality couple (American mother and Brazilian father). I have studied in the American school system since childhood (International School of Curitiba and public schools in the states of Iowa and Arizona in the United States), and lost any trace of an accent while living abroad, which along with my lengthy exposure to both cultures allows me to declare both American English and Brazilian Portuguese as native tongues.
Although specialized in teaching and translation, I have a broad range of interests including music theory and production, technology in general and computer programming specifically (Python), accelerated learning, mnemonics, psychology, Neurolinguistic Programming and language learning. I am self taught and have acquired low intermediate spoken proficiency in French (advanced reading) and Spanish (in this case in great part due to its similarity with Portuguese) and I am currently studying German.
