Source text - Portuguese [...] After releasing my first book, Linux for Beginners, readers kept telling me, "I love Linux! It opened up a whole new world for me and I want to learn even more." Some even wanted to turn their newfound passion into a career as a Linux professional. "What's next?" they would ask.
I would point them to one of my courses or suggest they take a Linux system administration class. "That's great, but what book should I read next? What book would be a great companion to a Linux administration course?" I didn't have a good answer for them.
Most of the books on Linux system administration, as great as they are, are simply outdated. They all seem to come from a time when Linux more closely resembled Unix. Even recently released books didn't cover the fundamental shift in how system services are started and managed on modern Linux systems. [...]

Hello! I'm Nuno Machado, 29 years old, from Porto, Portugal.
I am quite new to the translation world. My skills range from a nearly native English, to a proficient level of Spanish, as well my native language, Portuguese, in both written and spoken forms. I have translated, on an amateur basis, many texts and articles for my colleagues, friends and family.
On some day jobs i've had, i was required to speak to natives of the following languages, fluently and on a permanent basis:
I have contributed to the translation of some applications for the GNU/Linux operative system as a volunteer, and i wish to continue in the translation path, this time, as a freelance professional translator.
I will apply to University next year, in Applied Linguistics
I consider my skills innate, as i have learned English by myself, since i was a boy, i could hear words in English and without any effort of mine, automatically, would pop up in my mind the equivalent in Portuguese.
As time gone by, i tried to learn as much as possible, culminating next year, to my application to FLUP (University of Porto) in Applied Linguistics.
It will be a pleasure to work with you, to have the chance to achieve success together and to be able to improve and expand further my linguistic capabilities.
Looking forward for your contact, wish you the best on your endeavors.
