Professional objectives
  • Meet new translation company clients
  • Meet new end/direct clients
  • Get help with terminology and resources
  • Learn more about translation / improve my skills
  • Improve my productivity

Although a 100% native English speaker, my entire working career has been spent in a francophone environement, starting with 10 years as a full-time bilingual administrator/translator for the Cultural and Technical Service of the Embasy of France in Harare, and then part-time as a financial adminstrator at the French School for the past 14 years, where I also undertake translation work whenever the need arises (documentation, presentations, reports, etc).

For a number of years I undertook all the translation work for the projects run by the French scientific research organisation CIRAD's office in Harare (including international conference documentation and a study commissioned by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and since January 2013 I have been solely responsible for the French-English translation service offered by the Alliance Française of Harare (as well as the English-French translations since January 2017).

I recently completed the WLS Professional Certificate in Translation to gain an official certirfication of my experience and skills, and I am currently completing the SDL and TAUS post-editing courses.

I have experience in various subjects fields (animal husbandry, education, environment, finance, legal ocntracts, mining, museums, etc), and through my work at the Alliance Française I have gained extensive experience in the translation of civil stiatus records and educational certiifcates of both French and Francophone origin, often under very short time frames.

My work ethic is to provide translations of the highest standard possible, essentially in terms of accuracy and fluency, but also in terms of visual presentation, in the shortest feasible time possible and always within the agreed time-frame.

I am also interested in the teaching of French as a Foreign language and have already completed some of the modules of the DAEFLE training course with the CNED in France.
