I have a Bachelor of Arts in French language and literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While there, I was a two year resident of La Maison Française, a French immersion residence sponsored by the university. Additionally, I have completed post-graduate business coursework at Keller Graduate School of Management as well as independent study work in Marketing Research through Oregon State University.
I have over ten years of experience working in Marketing at Harley-Davidson Motor Company and while there, served as the in-house corporate French to English translator and interpreter. As such, I translated letters from French to English which were sent to the company from customers and motorcycle enthusiasts from French-speaking countries. I also served as an interpreter for French-speaking visitors arriving at the company's headquarters.
Since 2016, I have been working as a French to English freelance translator and have translated more than 750,000 words over the course of 1,500 projects, primarily in the areas of business and marketing, marketing research, advertising and public relations, e-commerce, information technology, textiles and fashion, travel and leisure, and motorcycles and automotive. I also have experience translating privacy policies, contracts and project proposals.
I have traveled extensively throughout France and Belgium, and for the past five years have hosted French foreign exchange students at my home in order to keep current on my language skills as well as French culture and current affairs. Additionally, I regularly participate in two social conversation groups with both native and non-native French speakers. In my spare time, I enjoy watching French-language films and television and listening to Francophone music.
