About me
Professionally, I am driven by two passions: medical research (20 yrs of experience) and languages (approximately 45 yrs of experience). Technical translation represents the paramount connecting thread which facilitates expression of both of these.

To keep it brief, I am a German national (now living in France) who grew up on both sides of the French/German border, attended a bilingual school and have always spoken at least 2 languages (and naturally translated between them). At the age of 14, I moved to Australia and considered myself trilingual (English, French, German) after obtaining matriculation. I subsequently did a Bachelor of Arts with majors in French and German (which included translation modules), at the university of Adelaide, Australia. Having formalised my knowledge of French and German, I then followed my passion and became a research scientist, obtaining a PhD in biochemistry in 1997. I spent the next 15 years working as a post-doc in biomedical research, in Australia, where I gained a thorough understanding of molecular biology (with DNA taking centre stage), virology, oncology (solid tumours and leukaemia), immunology and auto-immunity, nutrition etc. During this period, I published 18 papers, which serve to illustrate my proficiency in writing to international scientific journal standards in my field of expertise.

I am uniquely qualified to deal with high complexity translation projects in medical, DNA, biochemistry and nutrition fields. For these types of projects, I exclusively translate from French or German to English (UK and US).

My rates are open for discussion, given the extensive variation between projects. I would be more than happy to quote a specific translation job, and am sure we can come to an agreement with regards to fair remuneration. Should my skill set be of interest to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me to explore a potential collaboration.
With kind regards,

Technical translator/ Molecular biologist
