I taught English (EFL) for 8 years, having been part of the team of two top Brazilian private language institutions: Cultura Inglesa and IBEU (Instituto Brasil Estados Unidos). I was also a temporary member of the teacher staff at Colégio Pedro II, a renowned public school in Rio de Janeiro.

I have been translating digital journalism and marketing-related materials for some months now. The reason why I chose to become a translator is that I was craving for more. You see, even before I started teaching, I knew it in my heart the world was ever-changing. That meant what we taught and how we taught it should keep up with our students’ needs and the 21st century (multi-) literacy demands.

Keeping that in mind, I developed and conducted a series of classroom activities on relevant issues, such as racism and sexism. It brought me great joy to see how free those discussions made the learners and myself feel. I needed to feel like I was a source of change, power and creativity every day, so I became a marketing translator and now help companies inspire people through e-learning.

Who I help and what I do:

I proofread papers and ebooks on digital journalism and citizen journalism written in Portuguese by Brazilian researchers.

I translate marketing materials written in English by American e-learning companies that want to market their services and products to Brazilian companies.
