HAIR STRANDS AND ROOTS INSTRUCTIONS PAGE
ENGLISH instructions
Print your name and email address clearly onto the hair retaining strip. Print your details on the client information sheet.
Do not pluck and post the hair shafts and root bulbs on a Friday or during a national holiday period as this will delay delivery. Please post within 24 hours of taking the sample.
Permed, tinted, coloured or recently washed (with or without shampoo) hair samples are all acceptable.
You can take your own samples but you may find it easier to get a friend’s help.
Before the hair strands and root bulbs are plucked:
1. Remove jewellery from yourself and anyone assisting you. Put any mobile phones, tablets or computers in another room.
2. Avoid sitting directly under fluorescent lighting.
3. Put on the surgical gloves provided. If a friend is taking the hair, ask them to put on the gloves.
4. Sit down, relax and breathe evenly for 30 seconds. Close your eyes and concentrate on the first colour you see in front of your closed eyelids.
5. Using the tweezers provided, pluck a minimum of four strands of hair with the root bulbs attached, from above the nape of the neck as shown. Best practice is to hold the tweezers immediately next to the scalp at the roots and pull firmly in a downward direction.
Armpit or chest hairs are NOT acceptable; eyebrow hair is acceptable, pluck two eyebrow’s from above each eye with the root bulbs intact.
6. Peel back the cover (figure 1) and place the hair strands onto the strip with the root bulbs exposed (figure 2). Do not place the root bulbs directly onto the strip. Press the cover back in place over the hair strands (figure 3).
7. Open the alloy shielding bag and remove the two small sachets from their outer packaging. *One sachet is to remove any environmental moisture and the other sachet is to absorb oxygen. Both sachets are important as they help to maintain the integrity of the hair strands and roots.
8. Insert the completed hair retaining strip with the hairs and roots attached. Add the two sachets into the alloy shielding bag. Seal the shielding bag IMMEDIATELY; making sure that it is air tight, creating a vacuum and bacteria free environment. Place the sealed shielding bag and the completed client information form into the pre-paid, return address envelope.
9. A gentle reminder, please do not post your samples before or during the weekend or a national holiday period.
