Sanjin Grandić
Date of birth: 22.08.1966
Place of birth: Zagreb, Croatia
I am a bilingual, French/Croatian individual. I grew up and studied in
Paris from 1975 until 1991.
I obtained my Baccalaureat in Economics issued by the French Ministry of
Education in 1987.
With my school grades and "Baccalaureat" results I was admitted into la
Sorbonne, Université Paris 2, Panthèon-Assas in 1988 to study Public international law since I already spoke English and Spanish, and I wanted to combine
my knowledge of languages and my affinity for linguistics in the international
legal field.
Alas, after two years of studying, a war erupted in former Yugoslavia in
1991 and I felt compelled (along with many others from the Croatian diaspora)
to defend my country.
During the conflict, since things were quite chaotic at that time, I
began to work as an interpreter as well for the British (BBC), French (Antenne
2), Spanish (TVE) TV crews. Later I was given more and more materials from
these people to translate and that was the beginning of my career as an
interpreter and translator.
When I
worked for BBC, I had the privilege to be the interpreter for Mr. Martin Bell
from whom I learned a lot since he is one of the most interesting persons that
I have ever met.
I continued
to work in linguistics after the war as a freelance translator. Some ten years
later I learned subtitling due to the rise in demand for foreign language
subtitling in all my working language pairs; French-Croatian-English.
Over the years I formed my dedicated audio studio with Sennheiser earphones and headset with a high-quality microphone and another top of line components, so I am able to provide quality voice-overs in Croatian standard Zagreb accent and French standard Paris accent.
I grew up in Paris so I understand the Paris slang/lingo/verlain which is quite extensive and surprisingly colorful.
My voice is well-modulated since I have been working for twenty years by phone directly with the clients of my bank in collections. These are never easy conversations so one learns how to control the voice perfectly since it is an invaluable tool of the trade.
My voice is a male voice in the late forties.
In the year 2001, there was an opening at the former "Diners Club
Adriatic, renamed later "Erste card Club", the leading Credit Card
issuer in the EMEA region.
I am, since then, working as a collections specialist for Diners Club as
well as a freelance translator, interpreter with numerous projects under my
belt The Financial translation is, logically one of my strongest
subspecialties since I still work in finances and I have to follow the latest
trends and financial reports to complete my day job efficiently which comes in
handy for financial translations.
I also lived in Spain and Switzerland and traveled extensively around Europe and North
Africa and
As far as I am concerned, „good“ is not enough in Human Translation. Be
it a short text or a book, my translations are always accurate and consistent.
I have very good writing skills in my target languages so, the translation
is always in the spirit of the target language.
Attention to detail, fast turnover time, accuracy, and strict respect of
the deadlines are the essential guidelines for all my translations.
I use the latest version of SDL Trados 2021 to keep my translations
consistent and improve my turnover time.
I have in my apartment a dedicated work studio equipped for optimal
performance including the audiovisual translation. My bureau is always closed
and I use the strongest antivirus software money can buy, so your materials are
safe at all times.
I have also become very resourceful on the Internet over these years
because I translated lots of different projects in various fields, ranging from
mechanics to medical or financial and the answers are all out there, on the
Internet one just has to learn how to formulate the right question.
Once a translator can put the Web to good use, there is virtually no
text that he or she can not translate unassisted.
Financial audits, mechanics&engineering, literature,
telecommunications are just some of my subspecialties.
I also provide foreign language subtitling services and remote
interpretation via phone, Zoom, or similar.
Please, do not hesitate to contact me for any further pieces of
information or rates.
Sincerely
Sanjin Grandić
