Born in Japan but was raised in Los Angeles, I am fully bilingual in both English and Japanese.
Reading is one of my hobbies, so I read thousands of books from both languages, including many genres from newspaper articles to textbook readings such as "Two Treaties of Government and A Letter Concerning Toleration" by John Locke.
Casual readings to formal documents and contracts, I have experience in both languages.
When studying as a college student in the U.S., I was recruited as a tutor from the head professor of the literature department, and contributed to many reports and essays written by not only American, but foreign students from all over the world.
I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from the humanities department, majoring in Spanish Literature.
When I came back to Japan, I was hired as a secretary, however I was in charge of all international and English related tasks and services. I worked for 4 years and 6 months as a translator while managing secretary work and later as an analyst.
My main tasks as a bilingual included Japanese to English (and vice versa) translations of contracts, power-point presentations, business letters, IR announcements for the English page the company had, proofreading and editing documents that were written by anybody and everybody in English within the company, and English communication when there were phone calls from overseas.
I also was a writer during my years with this company, and researched, drafted and edited company magazine articles, newsletters and quarterly, semi-annually, and annual performance reports for the firm webpage.
After being a freelance translator/interpreter/writer, I currently help my clients with my linguistic/communication skills and my writing ability.
