Bio
I am a community-based artist and educator who was born and raised and continues to work with the Latinx immigrant community. Growing up I spoke Spanish and learned English when I started school. I am now fluent in both languages and have academic and community-based experience working, translating and interpreting in both. I am a graduate student in literacy studies and focus on the intersections of navigating social systems with literacy practices. Currently, I teach music classes and support adult ESL classes while I study. I have ongoing experience organizing for immigrant rights, organizing for student rights, teaching, and working in academic and non-academic settings doing translation, transcription and interpretation between English and Spanish.
