I’m a graduate of Philosophy (Bachelor of Arts) from Middle East Technical University which ranks as the second-best university in Turkey. I began doing translation works during my study years starting with translating philosophical texts and peer-reviewed articles from English to Turkish. Following these, I took up movie and TV show subtitling works at Katadrom Arts, Culture and Social Politics Association in Istanbul and at NTV, one of the top TV channels in Turkey specialising in News broadcasting and at TLC, a channel of the same company broadcasting foreign movies and TV shows. Furthermore, during my years in the pharmaceutical industry, I worked for the regional marketing team which meant that I was in constant exposure to international business doing as our team was responsible for regional marketing activities for over 30 countries in Europe. Furthermore, I’ve been doing translation and subtitling work for the International Changing Perspectives Short Film Festival, which is to be held for the 6th year in April, 2018, on a voluntary basis.
My learning English dates back to my high school years which was followed by an extensive one year English studies prior to joining the Philosophy faculty. The four year program course as well as exams were fully in English. After finishing my Bachelor's degree, I went to London to study MSc, International Business Management at University of Surrey. Having completed my degree with Merit, I lived and worked in London for 3 years managing hospitality and catering teams of varying sizes.
Given my educational background, having lived abroad and working both in translation/subtitling and in the international pharmaceuticals industry, my English level can easily be considered at native level for speaking, writing as well as translating and subtitling abilities. Additionally, besides my capabilities in English language, I also know German at intermediate level.
