Source text - Spanish Rosa Montero nació en Madrid en 1951.
Titulada en periodismo en la Escuela Superior de Periodismo de Madrid. (1970-1975)
Cuatro cursos de Psicología en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. (1969-1972)
Trabajó con grupos de teatro independiente como Canon o Tábano, con quienes estrenó en 1970 la mítica obra Castañuela 70.
Desde 1970 colaboró con diversos medios informativos (Fotogramas, Pueblo, Posible, Hermano Lobo) y desde 1977 trabaja para el diario El País, en el que fue redactora-jefa del suplemento dominical en 1980-1981.
Sus textos periodísticos aparecen de forma habitual en diversos periódicos latinoamericanos. Ha escrito con regularidad para diarios como Clarín (Argentina) o El Mercurio (Chile), y sus artículos han aparecido en medios como Stern (Alemania), Libération (Francia), La Montagne (Francia) o The Guardian (Reino Unido).
A lo largo de su vida ha hecho más de 2000 entrevistas (al Ayatolá Jomeini, Yassir Arafat, Olof Palme, Indira Gandhi, Richard Nixon, Julio Cortázar o Malala, entre muchos otros) y su técnica como entrevistadora es estudiada en las universidades de periodismo tanto en España como en Latinoamérica.
Sus artículos se utilizan regularmente desde hace décadas en la enseñanza secundaria y aparecen en las pruebas de selectividad. También son usados en el extranjero, como lo demuestra el premio de la AFDE (Association pour la Diffusion de L´Espagnol) que recibió en 2012 en Francia por la utilización de su obra en la enseñanza del español en el país vecino.
Ha sido profesora visitante en Wellesley College, Boston (EEUU) y en la Universidad de Virginia (EEUU). Ha impartido minicursos de escritura creativa en la Universidad de Bingham Young, Utah, (EEUU) y en el Miami Dade College, Miami, (EEUU) y recibió una beca para dar conferencias de la Queen’s University de Belfast (Reino Unido). Ha enseñado literatura y periodismo en la Escuela de Letras y en la Escuela Contemporánea de Humanidades, ambas de Madrid. Ha impartido lecciones magistrales en aperturas de curso y ceremonias de graduación en diversas universidades, entre ellas la de Salamanca, la Complutense de Madrid y la Carlos III. Ha participado en centenares de simposiums, conferencias y encuentros en Europa, América, Asia y África, desde Ferias del libro como las de Guadalajara (México) o Fráncfort (Alemania) a actividades académicas en universidades como Harvard y Cornell (EEUU), Oxford y Cambridge (Reino Unido), Heildelberg y Gotinga (Alemania), Venecia (Italia), Pau (Francia) o Minia (Egipto), entre muchas otras.
Escribió los guiones de una serie de televisión, Media Naranja, que obtuvo el premio Martín Fierro a la mejor producción extranjera en Argentina en 1988 y trabajó como coguionista, presentadora y entrevistadora en la serie documental argentina Dictadoras (2015).

De sus novelas se han hecho una decena de adaptaciones teatrales, varios cortometrajes, un largometraje, una ópera e instalaciones artísticas, tanto en España como en diversos países europeos y americanos.
La repercusión de la obra de Rosa Montero en el mundo del hispanismo internacional es ingente. Se han publicado diez libros centrados en la autora y unos sesenta libros colectivos que incluyen estudios sobre ella. Una treintena de tesis doctorales y más de 120 trabajos académicos publicados en revistas críticas o actas de congresos han analizado sus obras (ver bibliografía adjunta).
Sus libros están traducidos a más de veinte lenguas y es Doctora Honoris Causa por la Universidad de Puerto Rico.
En 2017 fue galardonada con el Premio Nacional de las Letras. También este año recibió el Premio a la Trayectoria Profesional, concedido por el Club Internacional de Prensa y el Premio Internacional de Periodismo Manuel Alcántara, Universidad de Málaga.
En 2018 fue nombrada Profesora Honoraria del Departamento Académico de Humanidades de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
Y en febrero de 2019 se crea el Aula Rosa Montero en la facultad de Periodismo de la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (Alicante).

She has been the commencement speaker at various universities, including the Complutense University of Madrid, the University Carlos III, and the University of Salamanca. She has participated in hundreds of symposiums and conferences all over the world, including the book festivals of Guadalajara (Mexico) and Frankfurt (Germany) and events at many universities, including Harvard and Cornell (USA), Heidelberg and Göttingen (Germany), Venice (Italy), Pau (France), and Minya (Egypt).

Her novels have been adapted into various art forms, including theatrical works, short films, a feature film, an opera, and art installations, both in Spain as well as throughout Europe and the Americas.
Rosa Montero's work has made an enormous impact on the Spanish-speaking world. Ten books have been written about her, and studies of her work have appeared in more than sixty volumes. El incremento de la inundación y la erosión por efecto del cambio climático, principalmente como consecuencia del aumento del nivel medio del mar (ANMM), se encuentra entre las mayores amenazas a las que se ven sometidos los sistemas costeros y zonas bajas de todo el mundo (Wong y otros, 2014). Esta subida del nivel del mar conllevará, además, una reducción significativa de la excepcionalidad de los eventos extremos, haciéndolos mucho más frecuentes de lo que son hoy día. Si bien algunos sistemas son capaces de retroceder tierra adentro para acomodarse a los cambios en el nivel del mar, otros experimentarán el clásico caso de estrés costero, que ocurre cuando una costa en erosión se acerca a estructuras rígidas e inmóviles, como malecones o acantilados, dando lugar a impactos adversos para el medio ambiente y la sociedad (Jackson y McIlvenny, 2011). En consecuencia, se espera que los daños se intensifiquen a lo largo del siglo, a medida que el ANMM, el desarrollo socioeconómico y la redefinición de la política territorial aumenten la población, los bienes y los flujos de actividad en la franja costera (Nicholls y otros, 2008).
Desde esta perspectiva, una amplia gama de marcos metodológicos está emergiendo para la evaluación socioeconómica de los riesgos y consecuencias de la inundación y de la erosión a diferentes escalas. La metodología clásica aplicada al análisis de riesgos meteorológicos extremos ha derivado en un marco conceptual generalizado (IPCC, 2014), basado en la combinación de la peligrosidad, la exposición y la vulnerabilidad.

The increase in flooding and erosion caused by climate change, principally as a result of mean sea level rise (MSLR), is among the greatest threats to the world’s coastal systems and low-lying areas (Wong et al., 2014). Furthermore, this rise in sea level will make extreme weather events much less of a rarity as they increase in frequency compared to today. Although some systems will be able to retreat inland in order to adapt to the changes in sea level, others will experience the classic case of “coastal squeeze,” which occurs when an eroding coastline approaches rigid and immobile structures, such as seawalls or cliffs, giving rise to adverse impacts on the environment and society (Jackson & McIlvenny, 2011). Consequently, it is expected that damage will escalate throughout the century, as SLR, socioeconomic development, and the redefinition of land policy increase population, property, and activity in coastal areas (Nicholls et al., 2008).
From this perspective, a wide range of methodological frameworks is emerging for the socioeconomic evaluation of risks and consequences of flooding and erosion at various scales. The classic methodology applied to the analysis of extreme weather risks has given rise to a generalized conceptual framework (IPCC, 2014), based on the combination of danger, exposure, and vulnerability.
Recently, initiatives have been developed that are important for the identification of threats leading to flooding and coastline retreat (Rueda et al., 2017).
