Source text - Portuguese O derrame pleural é uma complicação médica muito comum, é caracterizado pelo acúmulo de fluido entre as pleuras visceral e parietal. Não é considerado uma doença propriamente dita, mas sim um reflexo de outras patologias, que determinam a composição do líquido, dividindo-o em dois tipos: transudato e exsudato. Várias são as causas que levam à efusão da pleura, portanto é necessário um diagnóstico bem feito para que o tratamento seja feito, tanto para o derrame, quanto para o seu fator desencadeante. A principal ferramenta diagnóstica é a toracocentese, que pode ser considerada uma medida terapêutica dependendo da grandeza da efusão. Entretanto uma história clínica bem detalhada, tendo como uma das queixas principais a dispneia, é fundamental para a suspeita diagnóstica e a futura realização do procedimento.
Translation - English Pleural effusion is a very common medical complication, it is characterised by an accumulation of fluid between visceral and parietal pleurae. It is not considered a disease itself, but rather a reflection of other pathologies, which determine the composition of the fluid, dividing it into two types: transudate and exudate. There are several causes of pleural effusion, so you need a correct diagnosis in order to be able to do the treatment, both for the effusion and for the triggering factor. The main diagnosis tool is the thoracentesis, which can be considered a therapeutic measure depending on the magnitude of the effusion. Nevertheless, a well detailed medical history, with one of the main complaints been dyspnoea, is fundamental for the diagnostic suspicion and for the future procedure to happen.

Source text - Portuguese Numa das formosas ilhas de Lipari, branquejava solitária uma casinha térrea, meio encravada nos rochedos, que as águas do mar da Sicília batem constantemente.
Ao lado esquerdo da modesta habitação, corria uma farta alameda de oliveiras, que, juntamente com os resultados da pesca do coral, constituía os meios escassos de vida de Maffei e sua família.
O pescador enviuvara cedo.
Do amor ardente e rude com que o embalara por dez anos uma formosa procitana por quem se apaixonara, restava-lhe, com recordação viva da extinta mocidade, como um beijo animado da felicidade que passou, uma alegria de quinze anos, uma filha querida, meiga e delicada como o afago de uma criancinha.
Ela adorava-o. Enchia-o de beijos e ternuras; era como um rouxinol a acariciar um tigre. Nas tardes melancólicas do outono, quando se assentavam ao sol no terreiro, contrastava com a bruteza do peito largo do pescador a engraçada cabeça de Rosalina, que se debruçava sobre ele.
Completava a pequena família de Lipari uma boa e religiosa velha dos seus cinqüenta anos, ama, criada e amiga; Ângela era, ao mesmo tempo, a mãe adotiva da filha de Maffei.
Rosalina era encantadora. Como em quase todas as meninas italianas, adivinhavam-se-lhe os elementos de uma mulher bela. Difícil seria vê-la alguém, sem prender o coração naquela graciosa liberdade de movimentos; ouvi-la, sem guardar na memória, como uma relíquia sagrada, o seu falsete de criança.
Há quinze anos, adormecia e levantava-se antes da alva, sempre rindo e cantando; nunca uma tristeza real lhe havia nublado a transparência azul de sua alegria, parado em meio uma das suas sadias gargalhadas. Amor, que não o da Madona ou da família, jamais lhe entrara no coração; e contudo, nos últimos meses dos seus quinze anos, caía, às vezes, num cismar de tristeza indefinível, quando, de sobre a penedia, contemplava sozinha a extensão melancólica do mar; sentia em tais momentos como vagas inquietações, que se lhe debatiam por dentro e procurava, tolinha! com insistência pueril, arrancar do oceano o segredo de tudo aquilo; parecia-lhe que o ar misterioso das águas vedava ao seu entendimento o verdadeiro motivo dos seus anelos.
Inexperiente, atribuía-os à vontade de viajar; nunca saíra de sua pequena ilha, e essa, apesar da beleza do céu, dos perfumes, das florestas, das sombras das oliveiras, do amor paterno e da dedicação de Ângela enchia-a de tristeza e melancolia.
Aos domingos costumava ir à missa e embalde o aprendiz ou o operário se paramentava com seu gorro novo; a filha do pescador, logo em deixando os trajos domingueiros, nem mais se lembrava do moço, que a cortejara sorrindo, ou do singelo galanteio de alguns dos do mesmo ofício de seu pai.
Translation - English At a charming Lipari island, constantly kissed by the Sicilian sea, there was a small lonely white house to be found in the middle of the rocks.
On the left of this modest residence, there was a rich grove of olive trees that with the outcomes of the coral fishing made up the scarce economic resources of Maffei and his family.
The fisherman very soon in life became a widower.
Of the feverish and crude love that was dedicated to him by a young lady from Procida, and to whom he was in love with, was left only as lively remembrance of the phased out youth days, like a joyful kiss of happiness that is long gone, a fifteen years old ray of sunshine, a cherished daughter, sweet and delicate as a child can be.
She adored him. She gave him lots of small kisses and tenderness; resembling a nightingale petting a tiger. During the melancholic afternoons of autumn, when sunbathing on the terrace, contrasting with the brutishness of the fisherman large chest, there was the funny head of Rosalina laying on it.
Adding to the small Lipari family there was the good old religious servant and friend, Angela, a lady on her fifties that was also served as an adoptive mother to Maffei’s daughter.
Rosalina was very charming. As in almost every Italian girl, in her features there was a promise of beauty. Hard would be to anyone to see her without loosing their heart to that gracious freedom of movement or to listen to her child’s falsetto without keeping it in their memories as a sacred relic.
For Fifteen years, she would fall asleep and wake up before dawn, always laughing and singing; never a real grief had clouded the blue transparency of her happiness or stood amid the sounds of her laughter. Love, that not of the Madonna or the family, never had entered her heart, and nonetheless, in the last months of her fifteen years of age, she would sometimes feel an indefinable sadness, when, on the top of the crag, she contemplated alone the melancholic extension of the sea; in such moments she felt vague concerns, that canvassed in the inside, silly girl juvenile insistence, to disroot from the ocean the secret of everything, seemed to her that the mysterious air of the waters sealed the truth about her yearnings.
Inexperienced, she attributed them to a whish of travel; se never left her small island, which was, despite the beauty of heaven, of the perfumes, the forests, the shadows of olive trees, of the father's love and the dedication of Angela, filling her up with sadness and melancholy.
On Sundays, she would attend mass and pointlessly a student or a worker would vest his new bonnet; because the daughter of the fisherman, as soon as she undresses from her Sunday clothes, she would forget about the boy who smilingly courted her, or about the dalliance of the boys who shared the same trade as her father.

I have a bachelor's degree in Social Science – Anthropology and a graduate degree in Institutional /Governmental Relations. In 2014, still as an undergrad, I started to work at the Omani Embassy in Brasilia. There, the translation of some documents and booklets from English or Spanish into Portuguese were among my many duties. And it became one of my favourite tasks. A year later, I started to work as a freelance translator. This taste for translation, as well as for getting to know new cultures and worldviews, led me to open my own translation company, Glósses, in November 2016, which gave me more freedom to work as a translator and to wander a little more around the world.
Being in close contact with other cultures is an old passion of mine. I have travelled to many countries, and sometimes I had the opportunity to experience more than a holiday trip. I lived for three years in Oxford, England, between August 2007 and December 2009, where I did my GCSE and AS Level. I spent four months in Tripoli, Lebanon, in 2018, where I volunteer to teach art classes to low-income children. I also had the opportunity to conducted anthropological research in Malta in August 2013 and June 2016.
