English to Greek: hyperuricemia General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English Many factors contribute to hyperuricemia, including: genetics, insulin resistance, hypertension, renal insufficiency, obesity, diet, use of diuretics, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Of these, alcohol consumption is the most important.
Causes of hyperuricemia can be classified into three functional types: increased production of uric acid, decreased excretion of uric acid, and mixed type. Causes of increased production include high levels of purine in the diet and increased purine metabolism. Causes of decreased excretion include kidney disease, certain drugs, and competition for excretion between uric acid and other molecules. Mixed causes include high levels of alcohol and/or fructose in the diet, and starvation.
Greek to English: water supply project of the island of Corfu General field: Other Detailed field: Construction / Civil Engineering
Translation - English The Corfu Island Water Supply Project has been one of the largest planned water infrastructure projects in Greece over the past decade. Its implementation is considered a national priority because: (1) Corfu faces severe water supply challenges, including both water scarcity and poor water quality, as well as widespread groundwater salinization; and (2) the island is of strategic importance to the national economy due to its significant contribution to Greece's GDP, largely driven by tourism. Furthermore, substantial public resources have already been invested in the project's development.
Project A2: “Corfu Island Water Supply – Dams, Water Storage, Abstraction and Conveyance Facilities, and Associated Works” has a budget of 189,723,740 € (excluding VAT) and includes:
* The Melissoudi Dam, comprising a reservoir with a storage capacity of 5,760,000 m³ and associated water treatment facilities.
* The Kyprianades diversion tunnel dam, designed to provide additional water supply to the Melissoudi reservoir.
* The Kalamiotissa Dam, comprising a reservoir with a storage capacity of 1,065,000 m³ and associated water treatment facilities.
* The construction of a 197 km central water conveyance network, including 3 storage tanks and 8 pumping stations for supplying water to settlements across the island.
* The installation of a SCADA system for the monitoring, control, and remote management of the new water supply system.

Bio
My name is Katerina Sapounaki, l am a translator, creative editor, and founder of The Words Collective. With a BA Degree in Greek Literature (AUTh), a Diploma in Translation, an MA Degree in Creative Writing, and many years of experience with prestigious international brands, I enjoy taking on daily translation challenges. Participating in international projects, working with translators from around the world, and adjusting to the various project requirements have shaped my personality and made me flexible, communicative, and effective for any new task I undertake. When I'm not hunched over my computer pounding the keys with fury and inspiration, I'm usually reading a favorite book or running up mountains (literally!). Although I collaborate closely with a small number of trusted individuals, I identify myself as a solopreneur and a solo traveler because traveling gives me freedom and serves as a source of creativity for every new professional step. - Two things that I adore: volunteering in all its forms and animals. - Two words that inspire me: solidarity (which nourishes the soul) and pastitsio (which nourishes the body).
