English to Italian: "The mindful child" by Susan Keiser Greenland (extract) General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English When my daughter, Allegra, was eight, and my son, Gabe, was five, we took them to a neighborhood Zen Center to participate in a family program. This was their first experience with meditation outside of our home. The meditation center was an old house on landscape grounds. As our family walked through the gardens before the session, Seth and I tried to instill in the kids a sense of quiet and reverence. I told them about where we were and what we would be doing. They probably would have preferred staying at home, but they followed along respectfully. As I pointed out this plant and that flower, my daughter got something caught in her throat. She made throat-clearing noises, hacked, and then spat into the bushes. She turned to me and said, laughing bashfully, "I think I just hawked on the holy plants!" It was hard for Allegra to take my interest seriously, but to her credit, she tried. Gabe, of course, found his sister's behavior hysterically funny, but he tried, too.

My original field is more of the creative type. I was born in 1987 and, since I was a child, I developed a passion for illustration, books and movies. So my studies were oriented to filmmaking and my hobby to drawing and reading. I'm actually unemployed, since it's hard to get a breach into the show business environment, so meanwhile I'm relying also on my drawing and writing abilities for some earnings.
I excelled as an English language student from elementary school to high school, then I lived in England for eight months (where I attended an English school and lived with a local family) and in USA for two years to attend my Master degree in Directing (and where I also was a script reader for a brief period). Consequently, I'm already accustomed at reading from English quite fluently and with comprehension of its meaning, plus at writing as well; that's why I made two English-Italian translations of some chunks of texts and of an entire book for a doctor, who was quite satisfied with the result.
