Bio
Hello. My name is Amy Brookhiser. I am a recent college graduate with a bachelor of arts in modern language - Spanish. I have been speaking Spanish for eight years now. While I was in college, I did an internship as a volunteer Spanish medical interpreter. As a volunteer, I dealt with a lot of health history questions as well as insurance questions and diabetes management. The clinic that I did my internship at was a free clinic for patients not covered by insurance (the majority of them being immigrants). On top of having this volunteer experience, I was also a tutor in high school back in 2018 where I would go to classes with Spanish-speaking students and help explain to them the concepts learned such as in English, Algebra, History, and Economics. I am mostly interested in being a medical interpreter because of the importance of equality in health care and the right to know everything about one's health, no matter any linguistic barrier.
