Getting to know the city

Tel Aviv-Jaffa has been going nonstop for over a hundred years. Even in international terms, the city boasts a rare combination of golden beaches and spacious parks; a wealth of arts and cultural events alongside a vibrant nightlife that continues well past dawn; great restaurants and luxurious hotels, "Tel-O-Fun" rental bikes throughout the city and Wi-Fi in the streets; hundreds of years of history and archaeology, 320 days of sunshine a year, and an incredible atmosphere unparalleled anywhere in the world. But the city's real attraction lies in the infectious joie de vivre permeating it. The packed cafes are bustling with laughter and conversation, the streets are filled with a holiday-like atmosphere, and there's a whiff of creativity in the air that comes to life in the local theater, music and fashion scenes.

Among the city's prime attractions is Jaffa, one of the oldest active port cities in the world. Mentioned in ancient Egyptian writings from as early as the 15th century BCE, as well as in the Bible and the New Testament, Jaffa is packed with historical monuments and full of traditional Mediterranean charm. Building on its rich past, Jaffa continues to renew itself and now lodges dozens of galleries, design shops, cafes, and restaurants, exuding a local personality that incorporates freshness and modernity.

We invite you to enjoy the spirit of the city – at its large events, which attract tens of thousands of people from all over Israel and the world; but also by partaking in its little pleasures: a leisurely stroll, a bike ride along the coastline, or a chance conversation with someone sitting near you at a cafe. Few places manage to impart such a sense of vitality while at the same time conveying so homey and welcoming an atmosphere.

I am a certified freelance Hebrew-English and French-English translator based in Tel Aviv, Israel. I also work in editing and proofreading English-language texts. I completed my studies in translation at Beit Berl College in 2019, earning a diploma in English-Hebrew translation.

A native English-speaking American, I was raised in the United States until the age of twelve, when my father began working abroad. My experience travelling and living overseas as a child and young adult, learning different languages and becoming immersed in different cultures, shaped the way I think about language and communication and ultimately led to my passion for translation.

In 2009 I moved to Israel. I became fluent in Hebrew and fully immersed myself in local culture.

In 2018, I decided to take the plunge and turn my passion for languages into a career in translation. I began working as a freelance translator in the local theater scene, which I was already involved in, and simultaneously began my studies in translation at Beit Berl College. In 2019, I completed my studies and earned a diploma in English-Hebrew translation.

I have been very active over the last two years and have amassed significant experience translating in the theater and arts sector here in my adopted hometown of Tel Aviv. In addition to subtitles for theater and film, I have experience translating websites, articles, marketing materials, brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials, grant proposals and other formal communications.

Why choose me?

Words are my first love. I've been avidly reading and writing in English since I was a child, and to this day I often write for my own pleasure. I bring this passion and creativity to each and every one of my translations. What sets me apart is my ability to provide elegant, well-written English texts that capture the nuances of the source text I'm working with.

Accustomed to working to tight deadlines, I guarantee quick turn-around and attention to nuance, accuracy, syntax, and voice. I am a perfectionist with obsessive attention to detail and excellent grammar. My experience working in a wide variety of fields has trained me to quickly and accurately assess the context of source material and translate it in an understandable and appropriate way.
