English to Portuguese: "Texas", by Chris Rea General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Music
Source text - English Warm winds blowing
Heat and blue sky
And a road that goes forever
Been thinking 'bout it lately
Been watching some TV
Been looking all around me
And what has come to be
Been talking to my neighbour
And he agrees with me
It's all gone crazy
Well, my wife returns from taking
My little girl to school
She got beads of perspiration
As she tries to keep her cool
She says, "That mess, it don't get no better
There's gonna come a day
Someone's gonna get killed out there"
And I turn to her and say, "Texas"
She says, "What?"
I said, "Texas"
She says, "What?"
They got big long roads out there
Warm winds blowing
Heat and blue sky
And a road that goes forever
I'm going to Texas
(2, 3)
We gotta get outta here
We gotta get outta here
Well, I got a little brother
Several meters high
Yeah, he's built just like a quarterback
And he swears he'll testify
He says he's been to Texas
And that's the only place to be
Big steaks, big girls, no trouble
Yeah, that's the place for me
I'm going to Texas
Yeah, yeah
Oh, I'm going to Texas
Yeah, yeah
I'm going to Texas
Watch me walking

Translation - Portuguese Ventos quentinhos soprando
Calor e céu azul
E uma estrada que não acaba nunca
Tenho pensado nisso ultimamente
Tenho assistindo à televisão
Tenho olhado ao meu redor
E como as coisas estão
Tenho conversado com o meu vizinho
E ele concorda comigo
Tudo ficou louco
E eu viro pra ela e digo: "Texas"
Ela diz: "O quê?"
Eu digo: “Texas”
Ela diz: "O quê?"
Lá eles têm umas estradonas compridas
Ventos quentinhos soprando
Sim, é o lugar certo pra mim
Eu vou pro Texas
É isso aí
Eu vou pro Texas
É isso aí
Eu vou pro Texas
Olha eu andando

English to Portuguese: Excerpt from "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English The Commander stands for the virtues of wisdom, sincerity, benevolence, courage and strictness.
By method and discipline are to be understood the marshaling of the army in its proper subdivisions, the graduations of rank among the officers, the maintenance of roads by which supplies may reach the army, and the control of military expenditure.
These five heads should be familiar to every general: he who knows them will be victorious; he who knows them not will fail.
Therefore, in your deliberations, when seeking to determine the military conditions, let them be made the basis of a comparison, in this wise:--
Which of the two sovereigns is imbued with the Moral law?
Which of the two generals has most ability?
With whom lie the advantages derived from Heaven and Earth?
On which side is discipline most rigorously enforced?
Which army is stronger?
On which side are officers and men more highly trained?
In which army is there the greater constancy both in reward and punishment?
By means of these seven considerations I can forecast victory or defeat.
The general that hearkens to my counsel and acts upon it, will conquer: let such a one be retained in command!
The general that hearkens not to my counsel nor acts upon it, will suffer defeat:--let such a one be dismissed!
Translation - Portuguese O Comandante representa as virtudes da sabedoria, da sinceridade, da benevolência, da coragem e da severidade.
