Intangible assets are stated at cost and amortised over their estimated useful lives as follows:
Goodwill 5-20 years
Goodwill is reviewed for impairment at the end of the first full year following the acquisition and in other periods if events or changes in circumstances indicate the carrying value may be impaired.

So far this year, typical growth sectors such as health care and information technology have outperformed the market. IT sold off early on in this long bear market. It appears that most selling is finished now and that this sector has started to discount a better capital spending outlook later this year. Health care is less sensitive to economic recovery. Given its favorable long-term outlook, we consider health care attractively priced. We continue to overweight both sectors. On balance, the economically sensitive sectors remain overweighted. Global economic sensitivity is also the reason to continue to overweight emerging markets, albeit to a lesser extent.
Asset mix
Equity markets rose sharply in the first days of April while bond yields rose on the back of renewed hopes of a quick ending of the Iraqi war. Equity markets have already lost significant ground so far this year, particularly in Europe. A further bounce in equities can therefore not be ruled out should the 'quick war' scenario play out. This would reduce short-term uncertainty and depress oil prices. If this scenario unfolds, stocks are expected to outperform government bonds. We are therefore holding on to the small overweight in equities at the cost of government bonds.
