With 20 years of experience working in Russia-related non-governmental organizations in the areas of environment, environmental policy, Russian indigenous peoples, refugee resettlement, and fisheries management and policy, I am a fluent Russian speaker whose native language is English.
I have held increasingly responsible positions at various non-profits over that period, and my duties very often included interpreting and translating in all of these areas. I have been working professionally as a freelance translator and interpreter since 2006. I have traveled extensively in Russia, especially Siberia and the Russian Far East. I am currently director of The Altai Project, an NGO that works to protect nature and strengthen communities in Russia and Mongolia.
I also have working knowledge of German and Serbo-Croatian. I have a Bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College, where I majored in Russian Language and minored in Linguistics.
