Professional practices Alexandra Cox endorses's Professional Guidelines (v1.1).
I am a published translator into my native language English from both French and German. Although I have been professionally active since 2002 following completion of my Master of Science in Translation, I began studying the profession in 1997. My professional experience so far has brought me translation tasks in an astonishingly wide variety of subject areas, ranging from commercial, management, employee communications and human resources, health and safety reports and legal contracts to scientific experiments. My work as a contractor up to the end of September 2004 included press releases, official company statements, newspaper articles, a presentation on an internet site usability test and a scientific study by the French food safety agency. This work also involved the compilation and upkeep of a corporate lexicon consisting of around 15 000 French, German and English terms covering the areas of agriculture, pest control, crop diseases, industrial operations, human resources, IT and legal matters.
My freelancing work so far has included: Ten published books, seven of them in the field of art and photography; marketing /advertising; business, financial, moderately technical texts; industrial health and safety; quality assurance; websites for hotels, engineering companies, a telecoms company, a well-known mineral water company; work for an agency specialising in advertising and software localisation; a statistical report concerning one of Germany's federal states; a volume of scientific articles concerning a project by the University of Leipzig. One of my projects was a roughly 300-page book about anti-money laundering for a bank in Liechtenstein.

I am a full Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting and of the German Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer and work full-time as a freelance translator. Although literary translation doesn't yet feature among my surprisingly varied translation accomplishments so far, I have a strong interest in this field, having completed a dissertation with a literary theme as part of my Master's degree.

Pricing will depend on the length and difficulty of the presented task, but will generally be in the range of 0.10 - 0.13 Euro per word / 1.00- 1.30 Euro per line.
