I'm a freelance English > Brazilian Portuguese translator and editor with a bachelor's degree in Production Engineering.
I've been working full time as a translator/editor for almost two years, but I started my translating experience long before. I used to work as a Quality Engineer for companies in metallurgical, renewable energy and automotive fields. During that period, a substantial part of my job was to translate technical standards, procedures and work instructions from English into Portuguese and vice versa, as well as creating bilingual documents for factory use and client appreciation.
Since I loved the experience of translating technical texts from and into English, I quit my job in August/2014 and officially became a translator.
I still perform translation jobs for most of my old employers, as well as occasional consulting jobs in the Quality area, which usually involve the translation or creation of bilingual documents.
I also work for Brazilian and foreign translation agencies.
Because of my industrial background, most of my work is very technical, but not all of it.
I’ve always been interested in subtitling and, although I’ve never done it professionally, I’m have all the necessary knowledge and I’m up for the task.
I’ve recently participated in a series of workshops regarding accessibility in audiovisual content. After studying resources such as subtitling for the deaf and hearing impaired and audio description, I intend to specialize in this field in order to help people with disabilities.
