I am an experienced translator who takes a lot of pride in my work. I love languages, I love dictionaries and most of all I love thinking about how words can best be used to achieve the desired result in terms of the reader's response. In short, I have the perfect job and one which makes me happy every day!
Whilst studying for my MA I was fortunate enough to work as a project manager at a great translation agency (Imprimatur Ltd.) where I learned a lot about time management; what makes a great translation; proofreading; computing skills and formatting; client communication and translation software.
Over the last few years I have been working mainly for 3 agencies on a very regular basis and I am the preferred translator for a number of their end clients. Aside from my main specialisation in medical texts (such as ICFs for clinical trials, Ethics Committee letters and patient information), my clients tend to value my creative writing skills and will frequently come to me first with any texts that require a freer translation style or that need to read well in English. I like this variety because of course medical texts require an entirely different approach.
Although I manage to have a good work/life balance and spend enough time with my family, I am always willing to put in the extra hours for my clients. I have never missed a deadline yet!
