English to Dutch: Engine Oil General field: Marketing
Source text - English 'Carbon deposits on the pistons can cause piston rings to stick and may form an abrasive layer that leads to excessive wear. Worn piston components fit less precisely and allow oil into the combustion chamber. This increases oil consumption and lets combustion gases into the crankcase, which can prematurely age the remaining oil ‘

We also have world-leading engine- and vehicle-testing technology, including 25 chassis dynamometers, 40 test beds with environmental temperature control ranging from –40 to 50°C and more than 300 fleet vehicles. Our highly trained specialists carry out emissions measurement and analysis, and on-site lubricant testing.
A sporty 105bhp 1.4-litre car with a 3.2-litre sump has an engine oil stress factor of approximately 23. A sporty 0.6-litre 123bhp bike with a 2.7-litre sump, on the other hand, has an engine oil stress factor of around 76 – nearly three times that of the car.
To find the right oil for you quickly and easily, try our X LubeMatch tool.
Unusual smells can come from the car in front or your environment, but if the smell is consistent it may well come from your car. When describing the smell to your franchise dealer try to remember if it was:
• a sweet smell (likely to be caused by burning engine coolant)
• acrid, like burnt plastic (likely to be caused by electrical faults)
• like burning rubber (likely to be caused by overheating brakes or clutch).
Engine oil acts as a reservoir for all kinds of by-products that form when the fuel burns, including soot, sludge, water and acidic material, as well as unburned and partially burned fuel. At the same time, the stress placed on the oil during engine operation gradually depletes the components that determine the oil’s performance.
Over the past few years, we have discovered that bikers want an oil that provides maximum reliability, performance and cleanliness – enabling them to get the most from their bikes for longer.
Ducati Corse has won the World Superbike championship five times since joining forces with X in 1999. This successful relationship has also helped Ducati win its 13th manufacturers’ title and enabled its bikes to compete in more than 300 World Superbike and MotoGP races without an oil-related failure.
The X range lets you choose the level of protection you need in three critical areas: acid control, deposit control and wear control.
Find out how our various engine, transmission, axle and gear oils and greases take care of every aspect of your vehicle’s health.
