  -> Yes, they are different. "Mantequilla" is butter, which is what is clarified to make ghee. Manteca, as far as I know, is lard (the fatty part of an animal, as opposed to the fatty part of milk). Is the terminology different in Chile?

It may be that wayer was meant to be whey, which according to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary is "the serum or watery part of milk that is separated from the coagulable part or curd esp. in the process of making cheese and that is rich in lactose, minerals, and vitamins and contains lactalbumin and traces of fat." "Ghee" doesn't seem to be directly translatable into just one word. It's definition according to the 1967 Valásquez Dictionary is "aceite hecho de manteca clarificada; se usa mucho en la India para guisar y en medicina."
