I want to translate the below sentence as "The more his father types, the faster his typing becomes, but the more he eats, the slower his eating becomes."
他父親打字打得很快,可是吃飯吃得很慢。
Is it correct? If not, what is correct?

I would translate the Chinese sentence you have written as, "His father types quickly, but eats slowly." There is not the sense of "the more...the faster..." For good translations of your English sentence, look at the previous 2 answers.

In answer to hamo\'s note, when a verb is followed by an objectand is followed at the same time by a complement of degree, the verb must be repeated after the object before 得 and the complement of degree are added to it.
他作饭作得很好。
我写汉字写得不太快。

Comment: "I would like to thank everyone for providing very informative answers. Certainly I learned more than I was expecting.
As Beth was the only one who truly answered the question that I asked, I must award her the points. In the end she did the best to remove my confusion, even though all contributions were helpful and insightful."
