How would you translate:
If a child is age nine or under, the the child is considered "in need of care" and the report is forwarded directly to SRS

it's a legal document

´´necesita ser cuidado´´ or ´´necesita supervisión´´

The translation of the word ´´care´´ into Spanish seems to confuse translators often...Just saw another Kudo questions that nobody really got right, but I had trouble signing in to give my answer which would have been by far the best! In the above context, I think ´´cuidado´´ or ´´supervisión´´ are the terms to use...ser cuidado, ser supervisado, or ´´necesita supervisión´´ would all be clear and to the point!

necesitado de cuidados / atención

La traducción sería:

Si un niño tiene nueve años o menos, se le considera "necesitado de cuidados" (o de atención, como prefieras)y el informe es enviado directamente al SRS.

Espero haberte sido útil! :-)

con necesidad de atención

I would still use the quotation marks for the whole phrase to outline a person's current condition.

Hope to be of help.
