Discussion

Nina D (asker) Apr 19, 2007:
I think it might concern a child of both born before the wedding was closed. I think AleTer´s answer might be the answer.
Fabio Descalzi Apr 19, 2007:
Well, if it's a married couple, the thing becomes more complicated. The Spanish "legitimizar" has to do with a child born out of wedlock.
Nina D (asker) Apr 19, 2007:
I´m afraid there is few further context. It is just an added note to the extract of a marriage certificate. It probably refers to the fact the couple had a son.
Fabio Descalzi Apr 19, 2007:
Can you give some more context, please? This could be either about "legitimation", or about "legalising..." If you ask me in case of doubt, I would opt for the first meaning.

legitima

es dudoso, pero por el contexto yo diría que tiene que ser "legitima a su hijo...", puesto que durante la celebración de un matrimonio se puede legitimar a los hijos nacidos fuera de él.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Your answer is most probable. The child was born before the wedding was closed. "

Het zou hier wel eens om "legado" kunnen gaan.
