Before the native check and feedback
・How can we climb the wall without seeing it?
・Sport Climbing lets us face the walls and rocks only with our bodies.
People without sights can climb high by locating the usable holds and bumps on the walls/rocks
with sighted people, at own pace and aiming for one’s own goal.
Sport Climbing is not specially designed for people with disabilities. Therefore, anyone can
enjoy the game under the same rule irrespective of physical disabilities.
There is no winning or losing.
No opponent(s) and a ball flying to you.
It is safe, because you are protected by ropes or thick mattresses.
Don’t be afraid of failure, get active as much as you want! Enjoy refreshing workout with your
friends.
Figure out the best move by yourself and do it on your own to overcome the wall.
You can pursue your own climbing!
・Anyone can enjoy climbing together, regardless of visual problems!
・*****
Founder and Director of NPO *****. Became addicted to climbing when he was 16 years
old, and developed a progressive eye disease when 28.
After some years in deep disappointment, he founded NPO ***** when 37 years old, in
2005.
Through the NPO’s activities, he has been providing guidance and speaking sessions to
promote climbing for people with disabilities so that the sport be adopted all around Japan.
When 50 years old, he became a gold medalist of Paraclimbing World Championship three times in a row.
・Climbing is, just like walking or eating, basic and essential ability of human beings.
The real thrill and appeal of climbing is to climb natural rocks or artificial walls mobilizing all
those abilities.
When climbing together, sighted people tend to offer navigation on how to climb to whom without
sights, like “On your right! Left!” However, the fun part of climbing is to think and find the right
answer for you by yourself! Let’s find the possibility of yourself and climb together!

・Visually impaired people can improve their feelings of self-efficacy through climbing.
*****
A feeling of self-efficacy is a technical term which means “feeling of it is possible” and
“assuredness that I can do it.”
People tend to do a lot when they think they can, but easily give up when they think they cannot.
Even if it is actually possible, it remains impossible as long as the person thinks there is no
chance.
People tend to lose confidence when facing difficulties or obstacles.
It is known that climbing is effective in improving the feeling of self-efficacy.
NPO ***** has demonstrated through its researches that climbing can improve the self-
efficacy feeling of people with visual disorders. Also, the NPO push people to engage in study or
rehabilitation assertively in actual practice of its theory, backing up people who are trying to
overcome various challenges in their lives through its efforts.
・Climb high and jump in a great adventure!
*****, the first person with complete blindness who conquered the highest
mountains on seven continents
My friend ***** has the world’s deepest insights and biggest passion in climbing
for people with disabilities.
NPO *****, where he is playing the leading role, is now reaching for far more people
than visually impaired people to provide its services.
I send my heartly cheers for their challenge!

For medical translations accuracy is the most important, however, because of my background of working as a helpdesk argent, I know the importance of readability in guidance and instructive documents. Therefore, I always try to achieve both.
Outside translation, I am supporting one kind of parasport, paraclimbing, as I do climbing and have a small disability in my ankle. I have some experience providing linguistic support to Japan national paraclimbing team. I am willing to provide my skills and knowledges in this area.
