Translation is an engineer's job. It's much like building bridges between languages. Connecting ideas, tracing drawings, recreating sounds, shaping voices.

I am a professional English-Portuguese(BR) "language engineer" with more than 15 years of experience, holding a BA in Translation from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and a postgraduate specialization in English Translation from Estácio de Sá University. Since 2012, I have been working as an English translator and interpreter at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE).

My professional experience includes editorial, academic, institutional, and technical translation, as well as book translations, international agreements, academic documents, technical reports, and interpreting.

I believe good translation requires extensive research, attention to context, sensitivity to the text's voice, and the ability to produce clear, natural, and well-crafted text in the target language, remaining as faithful to the source as possible.

To translate is to remain aware of that feeling of doubt when reading a text and, whenever necessary, to think beyond the first terms that come to mind-even if, after all your research, this journey only leads you back to those initial, seemingly obvious choices.

To me, the translation process is more often than not at odds with the consensus.

After more than a decade in the profession, I still genuinely enjoy translating. I see every project as an opportunity to understand something new and find the best way of bridging understanding between languages.
