I am a
full-time freelance translator with more than 25 years of experience. Since1998 I work through the Internet for agencies
in the USA (California, New Jersey, North Caroline, Florida, and Washington), the U.K.
(London, Cambridge, and Nottingham), Spain (Madrid), Germany (Ulm and Freiburg),
Italy (Milano), and Uruguay (Montevideo).


Spanish is my mother language and, after studying English as a second language
for 10 years in 1980 I achieved the CPE
from Cambridge University (U.K.).
Furthermore, I have lived and
worked in several countries of Latin America
(e.g. Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay), and in
Spain too, acquiring a multicultural vocabulary
and developing a translation style understandable in all Spanish-speaking
countries.

Apart from this,
I use to be hired by international companies (mainly from Spain and USA) for
long-term projects related to healthcare (mostly hospitals). Thus, I lived and
worked one year in Qatar, three years and a half in Canada, and one year in
Kuwait, interacting with international teams of professionals from all over the
world (architects, engineers, doctors, consultants, politicians, providers,
manufacturers, distributors, etc.). Also, for family reasons, I lived in Germany for three years.

With respect to the Portuguese
language, I studied two years for the Diploma em Língua Portugesa at the ICUB
(Instituto Cultural Uruguaio-Brasileiro), and I worked for 13.5 years in a
Brazilian international bank. Also,
I translate practically on a daily basis for a business news site, which means
dealing with all sorts of subjects.

Having also studied Anthropological Biology and International
Business, two are my areas of expertise:


1) Pharma, Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Cosmetics,
Dentistry; etc.
2) Businesses,
Insurances, Education, Legal, Social Sciences, Patents, Software/ITC,
Marketing, etc.

My rate is USD 0.09 per source
word from English (all types) to (Latin
American) Spanish and USD 0.08 per
source word from (Brazilian)
Portuguese to (Latin American) Spanish. You can pay by wire
transfer or Paypal 30 days after delivery, or within 10 days of
each month if we work on a regular basis. I don´t use CAT tools but my fees
are competitive and, depending on the subject, I can translate up to more than
2,500 words daily (Eng > Spa) and up to 4,000 (Port > Spa). Also, if
deadlines are tight, I can work during weekends or holidays without extra
charge.
