Source text - English SECTION IINTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION
1.1 INTRODUCTIONThis manual describes the field ground detection system designed by Electric Machinery for use with large, turbine-driven synchronous generators. This system detects a possible ground in the generator field circuit when the generator is in operation and carrying load.1.2 SCOPEIndividual sections of this manual cover: description, installation, operation, maintenance, and renewal parts information.1.3 GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe field ground detection system, pictured in Figures 1 2, and 3 consists of a rotor-mounted transmitter (Unit A), a stationary receiver (Unit B) and a relay alarm panel (Unit C). A typical schematic of the complete system is shown in Figure 4. The transmitter uses solid state, light-emitting diodes which produce a high visible source of light. When incorporated with a transistor circuit and assembled in the shaft of the brushless exciter field, the unit emits a visible ring of light that is “on” for a normal condition and is “off” for an abnormal field condition. By using additional sensors, an automatic alarm will trip if the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) go off. The fact that the LEDs go out for an abnormal condition makes the transmitter portion of the system fail-safe, since the LEDs could possibly go out due to a circuit malfunction, a build up of dirt on the emitters, or an excessive leading power factor load on the generator forcing exciter voltage below power supply limits on the transmitter.Light information conveyed by the transmitter is sensed and interpreted by optical phototransistors in the receiver. Loss of LED light to the receiving unit will actuate the ground relay unit. The ground relay has an adjustable time delay to prevent false trips.

SECTION IIINSTALLATION
2.1 GENERALRefer to instruction manual 100-INS-200 for general information on receiving, care, and handling of EM equipment.2.2 INSPECTIONUpon receipt of the equipment, the components of the field ground detection system should be examined for obvious indications of damage. Check for loosely mounted components, broken or loose lead wires, and other visual evidence of deficiency. 2.3 MOUNTING The rotating transmitter is mounted between two fuses on the diode wheel of the brushless exciter. A balance weight is mounted directly opposite the transmitter on the diode wheel.Connect the two yellow leads (ac power) to the diode bridge (see Figure 4) to provide power for the transmitter. The black lead of the transmitter is attached to the negative bus of the field rectifier, and the white ground lead is attached directly to the shaft.The stationary receiver should be spaced 3/8” to 1/2” from the rotating transmitter, and the maximum axial displacement limited to 1”.

1.1 INTRODUÇÃO Este manual descreve o sistema de deteção de terra de campo projetado pela Electric Machinery para uso em grandes geradores síncronos a turbina.Este sistema deteta um possível “terra” no circuito de campo do gerador quando o gerador está em operação e em carga. 1.2 ESCOPOAs seções individuais deste manual cobrem: a descrição, a instalação, a operação, a manutenção e informação sobre peças substituíveis 1.3 DESCRIÇÃO GERALO sistema de deteção de terra de campo mostrado nas figuras 1, 2 e 3 consiste de um transmissor montado no rotor (Unidade A), um receptor estacionário (Unidade B) e um painel de relés de alarme (Unidade C). Um esquema típico do sistema completo está mostrado na Figura 4. O transmissor usa diodos de estado sólido emissores de luz que produzem um grande e visível fonte de luz. Quando incorporados em um circuito a transistores e montados no eixo da excitatriz de campo, a unidade emite um anel de luz visível que permanece iluminado em condições normais e apagado em condições anormais de funcionamento da excitatriz. Através do uso de sensores adicionais, um alarme automático atuará se os diodos emissores de luz (LEDs) apagarem. O fato de que os LEDs apagam para uma condição anormal, fazem esta parte do transmissor do sistema, livre de falhas posto que os LEDs poderiam possivelmente apagar devido a uma falha de funcionamento do circuito, um acúmulo de sujeira nos emissores ou um possível fator de potência adiantado (“leading”) no gerador, forçando assim a tensão na excitatriz a atingir valores abaixo dos limites de alimentação no transmissor. A informação de luz fornecida pelo transmissor é sentida e interpretada pelos fototransístores no receptor.A perda da emissão de luz dos LEDs para a unidade receptora atuará a unidade a unidade de relé de terra. O relé de terra tem um atraso de tempo ajustável para prevenir falsas atuações.

SEÇÃO II INSTALAÇÃO
2.1 INFORMAÇÕES GERAIS Referir-se ao manual de instruções 100-INS-200 para as informações gerais sobre o recebimento, cuidados e manuseio do equipamento EM. 2.2 INSPEÇÃOLogo ao receber o equipamento deve-se examinar os componentes do sistema de deteção de terra em busca de indicações óbvias de danos. Procurar por componentes que estejam fracamente montados, quebrados ou com os terminais frouxos e outra evidência visual de deficiência. 2.3 MONTAGEM O transmissor rotativo está montado entre dois fusíveis na roda de diodos da excitatriz sem escovas. Um peso de equilíbrio está montado em posição diretamente oposta ao transmissor na roda de diodos. Conecte os dois terminais amarelos (energia CA) à ponte de diodos (veja a Figura 4), para fornecer alimentação ao transmissor. O terminal preto do transmissor está conectado ao barramento negativo do retificador do campo e o terminal branco de aterramento está conectado diretamente ao eixo. O receptor estacionário deve estar espaçado 0,95 cm a 1,27 cm do transmissor rotativo e o máximo afastamento axial, limitado a 2,54 cm.

My experience as to the English language dates back from my childhood years when I lived with Americans and, not only spoke the language, but also learned it grammatically.
Later on, as an electrical engineering student, I carried out English teaching activities in parallel and, every now and then, took freelance translation works.
As a support to my English activities, I have, so far, achieved the following certificates: "English Proficiency Certificate" issued by the University of Michigan, "English Teacher", issued by Brazil-USA Cultural Center, "Special Course in English", issued by Brazil-USA Cultural Center, "English Teaching Skills", issued by Brazil-USA Cultural Center and the American Embassy and "English Composition for Teachers" issued by Brazil-USA Cultural Center and American Embassy.
