Real-time communications

ProZ.com has begun to develop a platform to facilitate real-time communication. The aim is to give you a significant competitive differentiator, by being able to make yourself readily available to a client during a time of need.

The "call me" button

If you have configured a way for someone to call you, a "call me" button will appear in your profile and in your directory listing. Clicking the button will open a window that shows any contact information you've chosen to share, and provides a "click to call" option to authorized users.

Click to call

With the "click to call" feature you can allow authorized people to phone you, while keeping your phone number private.

If configured, a "Click to call now" button will appear in your "call me" box during the times you've specified. The caller will use a browser-based app to call your phone number (you will talk on your phone, while the caller will use the browser-based app). Your phone number will not be revealed to the caller.

At least one party to the call must be either a Plus subscriber or a Business member.

Priority profile message alerts

You can give potential clients the option to send you "high priority" profile messages for urgent job-related communication, and get an instant notification by SMS and/or the ProZ.com mobile app, in addition to the normal email.

At least one of you must be either a Plus subscriber or a Business member.

Specify when you're available to take calls

You can specify days and times that people will be given the option to call you. Outside of those times, callers will be invited to send you a profile message instead.

Plans for the future

More real-time communication features are under development. Future plans include:

  • Chat / instant messaging
  • Video calling
  • Online interpreting

What do you think?
