I'm a full-time freelance translator with more than 18 years of experience in English to Czech (and in a lesser extent also in Czech to English) translating and proofreading.

My primary areas of experience are:

  • Gambling industry (casino, lottery, sports betting, gambling law etc.): 15+ years of experience in translating industry magazines and other texts concerning American, EU and Asian gambling industry for the most prominent Czech gambling company.
  • Computer games localization: 10+ years of experience. I've worked for some of the most prominent Czech game publishers; I also have experience with small projects management. I'm also a longtime computer games fan with more that 25 years of "experience" in computer gaming which gives me lot of knowledge needed to make my translations better and user-friendlier: I simply know what gamers need to be happy.
  • Computers: When most of the Central Europe didn't know what a computer looks like I'd already done my first (literally childish, to be honest) attempts in using it. You might say I've grown with computers :-). I belong to the generation which still knows how those "big boxes" work inside and so I've quite naturally built an extensive knowledge of information technologies. I'm also a programmer myself, so I understand many subtleties of computer software localization which may cause headaches to some less computer-knowing translator.
  • Botany: I have a university degree in the systematic biology with the specialization in botany.
  • Railways: this is my lifelong passion.

Some of my more important work:

Gambling industry:

  • 9 years of translating for the biggest Czech gambling company (Sazka a.s.): gambling industry magazines (I.G.W.B., Public Gaming, Gaming Law Review, Lottery World etc.) and other texts.
  • Gaming Industry: Introduction and Perspectives: a book on history and present of casinos, on casino operations (regulation, organization structure, marketing, accounting etc.) and on casino games mathematics.

Computer games localization:

  • The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (+ Dawnguard & Dragonborn add-ons): member of the localization team
  • The Witcher 1 & 2: member of the localization team
  • Alternativa: translation team leader
  • Memento Mori 2: translation team leader
  • Inquisitor: translation team leader
  • The Two Worlds 2: complete translation

  • A Companion to California Wine: an encyclopedia of wine and winemaking from the mission period to the present (a book by Charles L. Sullivan).

...and many others :-).
