Great sage Explanation: First of all, sorry for typing the words of disagreement for the Wang's answer. One could address a virtuous monk as Mahatma or Great Sage. Sheng is also a perfix for many words that mean the emperor or a great wise man, such as Confucius; also: emperor's body, emperor's edict etc. As for the Monkey King - I don't see any relations to this hero in the very word. |
