This relates to a particular head cleaner cartridge that demagnetises. To me it says that this cartridge contains a chip that somehow enables demagnetizing. I have yet to find it in any other English document, let alone a French one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Context:

Audio cassette and DCC deck`s - patented Xbrush casette holds up to 5 moving brushes and a Field Discharge Chip (FDC). 38000 absorbent fibers seek and remove dirt from the surfaces and gaps where it hides. The FDC demagnetises in 15 seconds while the brushes clean. Recordings sound better and last longer.

The only term I can find that is anywhere near this expression is "field discharge resistor", which is translated with "résistance de champ" (http://www.nrc.ca/irc/thesaurus/field_discharge_resistors.ht...

From the same site, I also find "electric discharge lamps" which is translated with "lampes à décharge".

I think it is safe to assume that this is a new concept from this company, and you can therefore translate the way you think best.
