1. Quel est le secret pour une bonne histoire policière ? Est-ce que, à côté du bon policier, le « bon » criminel (intelligent, imprévisible) joue aussi un rôle ?

Réponse : Le secret réside dans l’atmosphère et le rythme que crée le romancier autour de l’intrigue. Le lecteur doit se surprendre en train d’enquêter, lui aussi, de vivre pleinement l’histoire qu’il est en train de lire. De cette façon, une complicité entre lui et l’auteur s’installe et donne au roman une dynamique enthousiaste où la perspicacité et la surprise se rejoignent. Il est important, pour la crédibilité de l’histoire, de ne pas trop avantager le policier au détriment du criminel. Certes, l’intelligence doit l’emporter sur la méchanceté, mais le combat se doit d’être équitable car le Mal dispose d’atouts souvent majeurs que le Bien est appelé à surmonter.
