Moze rzeczywiscie \"Department\" brzmialoby lepiej?

w polskim są zabytki historyczne itp. oraz zabytki przyrody
w angielskim są nature monuments, historical buildings, landmarks (to name a few), i termin ogólny 'monuments' (na szczęście)

preservation = conservation (można je stosować wymiennie)

jak nazwać organ zajmujący się ochroną zabytków – są społeczne (committees – patrz namiary podane wyżej), i są poważne urzędy (na jednej australijskiej stronie jest HERITAGE PRESERVATION BOARD).
pewnie najbezpieczniej będzie mówić ogólnie o AUTHORITY
a więc np. Monument Preservation Authority, Provincial Office

605. Removal, defacing and altering boundary monuments Removing, defacing, or altering landmarks. Every person who either: 1. Maliciously removes any monument erected for the purpose of designating any point in the boundary of any lot or tract of land, or a place where a subaqueous telegraph cable lies; or, 2. Maliciously defaces or alters the marks upon any such monument; or, 3. Maliciously cuts down or removes any tree upon which any such marks have been made for such purpose, with intent to destroy such marks;- is guilty of a misdemeanor.
