corporal punishment; sentence for felony crime

From the Larousse Standard SP<>ENG:

aflictivo, va, adj JUR corporal; pena aflictiva corporal punishment

From the Larousse Standard SP<>ENG:

aflictivo, va, adj JUR corporal; pena aflictiva corporal punishment

From the Pequeño Larousse:

AFLICTIVO, A adj. Que causa aflicción. . Pena aflictiva (DER.) la de mayor gravedad, de las de carácter personal, contenida en un código.

The RAE gives a similar definition, adding "entre las de la clase primera" but, as it lists the term under *pena* rather than aflictivo, it also distinguishes between *aflictiva* and *capital*, which it defines as "la de muerte," *pena accesoria* and *pena correccional*. The *pena correccional* is especially interesting: "La de segunda clase, entre las de diversa gravedad, que el código penal determinaba"

The closest you can get to the distinction between "aflictiva" and "correccional" in modern US law is the distinction between a felony and a misdemeanor. So I am also suggesting "felony sentence" or "sentence for a felony crime" as possible renderings.

or long-term imprisonment. I would go with punishment by imprisonment in this context.

the highest class of penalty, i.e., death or long-term imprisonment

The passage appears to refer to a category of penalties that includes both capital punishment or long-term imprisonment. The criminal or sentencing code of the country in question probably defines types of crimes and aggravating / mitigating factors determining when this class of punishment is merited.
