Technicznie, capping station może mieć postać układu zbierającego nadmiar tuszu ("pampers", zbiorniczek z uszczelką plus ewentualnie pompka lub też cały układ z odpowiednim roztworem konserwującym, w którym zanużane są dysze głowicy.
