I assume you mean the name Ashley. I do not know any other meaning for the word. We should only change the spelling of names when absolutely necessary. Many immigrants change their names to fit the spelling practices or alphabets of their new countries but really this is not such a good idea unless the name is unpronounceable or cannot be typed in its original form. Ashley would not be so difficult for a German to pronounce so I recommend leaving it as is. Hope this helps, Dan

The Ashley River, running through Charleston, SC, is named for them, as is the school Ashley Hall. Therefore the question of how to spell Ashley in German is the same as how to spell von Hofmannsthal in English. Leave it. And don't name your daughters Hofmannsthal!
