Latin term

meditari et agere

Non-PRO Latin to English Other
This is on a family crest, a heraldry. Believed to be classical latin, suspect it means something like "those who ponder deeply, and then do"
Proposed translations (English)
5 +5 to ponder and to act
5 think and act

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com (asker) Jan 15, 2003:
more detail Thank you for the classic definition of both words. I was hoping for something more concrete....i've found this phrase, complete, on several latin sites when doing a search, so assume it is some sort of quote, of key phrase. am hoping for a more specific meaning of the actual phrase.

this is the translation of these three words (both meditari and agere are verbs in infinitive form).

Greetings,

Peer comment(s):

agree Chris Rowson (X) : The classic dictionary gives meditari as "to reflect, muse, consider, meditate, give attention" - so ponder or ponder deeply work fine.
