Elaine Sutton was born in London and gained a Masters Degree in Modern Languages at Cambridge University. She also has a postgraduate degree in Television Production and Direction. She lived in Paris for 14 years where she worked in television, publishing, public relations and industry. She headed the international communications department of a Paris based corporate group for 4 years before coming to New Caledonia in 1997 where she continued working as a full-time freelance translator. She was based in the UK from 2004 to 2006 and has been resident in the south of France since October 2006.
