I have a first class BA Hons. in French and Music from the University of Sheffield (2011), and received prizes for my work. During this time I elected modules on Fr/Eng and Eng/Fr translation, and Fr/Eng transcription and subtitling, spent a year at Université Rennes 2 studying translation and music.
Following graduation I taught English to French-speakers for three years, at Université de Caen Basse-Normandie and privately, and began working as a translator. In 2015 I was awarded a distinction from the University of Oxford for an MSt in Musicology, for which I wrote on music and migration, conducting fieldwork among refugees in Calais, France.
As well as a linguist and translator, I am a musicologist, musician and sound artist, specialising in the popular and contemporary, including jazz, reggae, klezmer, underground, and electroacoustic music.
My further interests, knowledge and experience allow me to work competently and ardently in other fields of study, as indicated on my profile.
I welcome enquiries, and am very happy to provide any further details upon request.
