Native speaker of German professionally translating from Czech, Slovak and Russian into German with customers all over the German speaking countries + Czech Republic + Slovakia.

Several years of Russian and Czech studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin; studies at the Charles University in Prague (1 year) and at the Moscow State University (half a year). Earlier qualification: broadcasting sound technician. At Extended Secondary School (GCSE) special language education in Russian, English and French.

Professional full-time freelance translator since 1997. I am a German living in Prague since 1996 and for 18 years my wife was Russian (living together from 1996 until 2014), so my foreign languages are/were "kept alive" in the most natural way.

I mostly translate in MS Word and the other MS Office formats. Naturally, I am able to create, and work with, translation memories. I am able to work with source texts in common formats and, using optical character recognition (OCR), also with texts in common graphic formats (facsimiles, scans etc.). I am able to translate HTML-files, a wide range of Adobe-file formats and also to translate software text resources with localization tools.

I respond to job offers received by e-mail or fax on working days (also in the evening) almost immediately. I respond to offers received during weekends on Sunday in the evening. When I am not at home, your phone calls get redirected to my Pocket PC HTC Touch Pro 2 with mobile internet connection that I use in addition to ADSL. The HTC Touch Pro 2 allows me to answer your e-mails from wherever I am. Only in the case of a holiday will you get an automatically generated answer from my mailbox or hear our answering machine message informing you of the holiday and the date of return. But even on holidays I check my mailbox at least once a day using internet cafes, WiFi or a local mobile internet service provider.
